Restaurant Review: Stephanie's on Newbury (Boston, MA)

Situated on one of Boston's busiest streets, Stephanie's on Newbury is hard to miss. The patio is one of the largest on Newbury Street and the restaurant has been in business since 1994. While the venue may be a tourist-favorite for a Bloody Mary during Sunday brunch, no meal at Stephanie's on Newbury is recommended for someone in recovery. While the clientele are typically consuming alcohol (especially during the weekends), the bar is located in an area separate from the main dining room. There are zero interesting non-alcoholic options on the extensive beverage menu and the service is lacking. Our table was not greeted by a server for over 10 minutes, which was observed to be the norm around other areas of the restaurant. The wait to see our server was longer than it took the food to come out once ordered, which begs the question as to how many items are prepared to order? As with most restaurants in Boston, there is a staffing issue. As the busy summer season it now upon us, it is doubtful the service will improve. Regarding the location, Newbury Street is busy during the day and quiets down in the evening; however, there are numerous close-by bars, restaurants and liquor stores.
